Three months after Jouffre’s summer renovation work began, the workshop in Lyon is unrecognizable. The modernity of the premises now perfectly meets the needs of the traditional upholstery trades.
Architect Elsa Arsenault has masterfully piloted this renovation project to make the workshops both functional and attractive. With a strong desire to improve the well-being of its employees, Jouffre made a commitment at the start of the work to improve the quality of working life in the workshops and also in the design office by offering the teams an environment that reflects the projects they have been bringing to life day after day, for more than thirty years.
Combining the depth of anthracite grey with the softness of off-white, the workshops are a breath of fresh air.
In order to facilitate exchanges between teams, a large number of walls and partitions have been removed to make way for open, spacious and bright workshops and offices.
Seven meeting rooms have been created and set up in different strategic locations. Equipped with bay windows, curtains made by the seamstresses and wall hangings made by the upholsterers to improve acoustics, these rooms offer real comfort. Each of them bears the name of an emblematic project on which Jouffre workshops have had the good fortune to collaborate: Beauregard, Belle-Etoile, Elysée, Fabrègues, Opéra, Pompadour, Sagard and Révélations.
The fabric showroom and the library highlight some iconic pieces of furniture made by the Lyon-based company, such as Pierre Yovanovitch’s Bear, MAD and Asymétrie armchairs, as well as the Studio Parisien Panthère sofa. Floating banquettes are installed underneath the windows. On them, a trained eye will certainly recognize the famous Boules cushions imagined by Pierre Yovanovitch.
The work has brought the values and DNA of Jouffre to life: a modern, innovative and ambitious company with traditional savoir-faire.
