A historical company since 1957

Rightful heir to generations of carpenters, our company was born in 1957 in Thouars, Deux-Sèvres, in the west part of France. Based in Paris, Thouars, and on the island of La Réunion, Asselin also created a subsidiary in the United States in 1999, in Atlanta.

Drawing on the know-how and experience of its parent company, Asselin Inc presents different authentically French lines and bespoke windows and doors for the export market.

Today it is closely associated with the restoration of the finest buildings of French heritage. Woodworking excellence is at the heart of our business. Timber Framing

Superlative framing skills

Our engineers have the latest tools at their disposal (CAD Drawing, digital surveys, pathology analysis, strutural calculations…), allowing them to measure, analyze and conceive any type of wood struture while respecting the original architecture and style. We use French oak in 90% of our projects. Our 80-plus timber framers use both traditional tools and high-capacity machines.

Traditional ways

We excel at traditional assemblies with mortice and tenon, housed joints, dovetails, forking, slot mortice, butt joints. All these assemblies are done with high precision, on job sites or in workshops, thus guaranteeing great stability, resistance and authenticity.

Asselin designs, manufactures, restores and recreates to order, your exterior and interior wood joinery, delicate or massive, with or without ornamentation, whatever the style, era and complexity needed. Perfect knowledge of styles and wood types means that our staff will make the best choices with regard to the technical and aesthetic properties sought.

From the single piece to large series, while preserving an unrivalled noble and historical look, our windows can have the most high-performing characteristics (thermal, acoustic, fire-resistance, bullet-proofed, resistance to break-ins, etc.).

Artist’s work

The wood is worked and carved here down to the finest details, to reproduce the works of past centuries with as much magnificence as the originals. Guardians of history in support of heritage, our cabinetmakers have in their hands a precious and rare know-how that they have applied to the woodwork of many private Paris mansions and town houses.

Installation and maintenance in France and elsewhere are performed by us. In this field, our expertise often means we become advisers for our customers. Finishes and patinas, delicate installation, care given to the respect and the authenticity of the structure are the watchwords of our work.

Our expertise

In order to keep the prestige oh our French hsitoric buildings, our apprentices, and future Master craftsmen, are trained by older artisans who teach them the traditional ways. We support any initiative to preserve our heritage (EPV – Entreprise du patrimoine vivant : Living Heritage Company, GMH – Groupement Français des Entreprises de Restauration de Monuments Historiques : French Group for the restoration of Historic Monuments), so our Monuments continue to tell their stories for the centuries to come…
